Listserv leaders

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

We are excited to announce the launch of the Listserv Leader program! This new initiative aims to enhance our listserv experience for all MISBO members by enlisting dedicated volunteers to facilitate and optimize the platform.

Our Listserv Leaders will assist members in various ways, such as:

  1. Welcome new signups
  2. Facilitate member-to-member connection
  3. Help members find content
  4. Monitor for illegal activity
  5. Disseminate important information

VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS

This program offers a straightforward way for members to volunteer with MISBO, for just a year at a time. Volunteers are expected to carry out the following duties:

  1. Read and respond to listserv posts as needed.
  2. Agree to have their name and contact information in the footer of all emails disseminated in their group.
  3. Familiarize yourself with our listserv policies and procedures.
  4. Alert MISBO staff when appropriate.
  5. That's it, it's SO easy!

Volunteers will receive recognition at the Annual Conference and through other channels. Join us in making our listservs more valuable and engaging for everyone!

Examples of ways to communicate

Hello wise listserv members! I have a school looking for recommendations for a search firm specifically for Director of Advancement, with a strong emphasis on fundraising. Within the consortium, there is Our Fundraising Search (and they are great!) – looking for other consultants and any comments you want to share about your experience with the consultancy.

You are welcome to send to me directly and I will compile and send back to the group.

Many thanks!

Good morning!

Quick reminder that you should join us for our AI Policies, Platforms and More Roundtable this Friday, May 10, 2024 at 1:00 pm ET. This roundtable was created from conversations right here on this Listserv last week!

Connect with your MISBO technology peers for an informational discussion of AI implementation in educational settings. Delve into the many facets of AI, ranging from selecting optimal platforms to integrating AI into the curriculum, while also examining the development of policies to govern its ethical and effective use. Come prepared to engage with your own insights, sharing best practices and lessons learned as we navigate the landscape of AI in schools together!

Moderated by Torrey Williams, Chief Information Officer, Westminster and Damian Kavanagh, President, MISBO

Hi all! I hope the start of the school year has been going very well!

Twice a year we take a moment to remind everyone of the remarkable resource of the MISBO listservs and provide a brief list of the do’s and don’ts that will keep conversations headed in the right direction. We send this notice out in August and in January hopefully long enough in front of tuition setting, compensation decisions, camp fees discussions, etc. to remind folks of this. We have many listservs available – here is where to find them: https://www.misbo.com/list-servs. Listservs are a great place to share information, but there are a few things to watch out for.

LIST-SERV RULES:

• By posting or responding, users agree not to post content that is defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal.

• Users also agree not to post copyrighted information without gaining permission and/or quoting sources properly.

• Posting a comment does not convey liability for either members or MISBO staff.

• Listserv content should not be shared without the sender's permission.

• Users assume their own risk when executing information gained through MISBO listservs.

• MISBO reserves the right to reject any message for any reason.

ANTI–TRUST AWARENESS STATEMENT: There is a chance that some conversations may slip into areas that broach on anti-trust, anti-competitive practices, price fixing, or another subject that could jeopardize the group. AVOID questions/conversations that have to do with any of the following: fees (tuition increases, salaries, charges for auxiliary operations, etc.), raises (specific compensation, raise amounts, etc.), dividing customers or territories (in our case, this would mostly apply to students and offers of admissions), and personnel issues or issues that identify an individual. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but to provide a basis for the members of the listserv to police each other and to provide the grounds under which the organization might suspend a listserv. Additionally, as a third party, we may be able to assist with obtaining information either through DASL or through a survey – just ask us! Click here for the full MISBO policy.
