Kindergarten Teaching Fellows Program

Ensworth’s Teaching Fellows Program was created for those considering, or returning to, a career in teaching. We seek motivated and enthusiastic individuals with a degree from a 4-year college or university who would like the opportunity to experience daily life in a kindergarten classroom under the guidance of a master teacher. In every way, teaching fellows are considered an integral part of the faculty and community of Ensworth and are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the school. A degree in education is not required. While some candidates come to the program with an education degree, or with student teaching experience, some are recent college graduates who would like to explore the possibility of teaching and some have taken a break from teaching and would like to renew their career. This opportunity offers the chance to learn about and be trained in best educational practices and methods, including Guided Reading, Running Records, Writing and Reading Workshop and Responsive Classroom. Fellows carry the responsibilities of a classroom assistant who helps to prepare and manage classroom set-up and supplies in addition to the teacher-training aspect. Teaching Fellows are appointed to a part-time, one-year position with payments every two weeks from August through the following June. Fellows often have the opportunity to sub in the afternoons, for additional pay, once their regular duties are completed.

Qualified candidates should complete an online application for employment at https://www.ensworth.com/page/explore/careers- and please submit a resume and cover letter.
