pros and cons of using ChatGPT and similar AI in schools

ChatGPT, a new chatbot with an uncanny ability to mimic human dialogue and decision making, is sweeping schools across the world. This free-to-use artificial intelligence (AI) has a simple premise: You “talk” to a chatbot that can then assist you with any number of tasks. ChatGPT has excited schools and students on the ways they can use it to transform their curricula, lesson plans, and assignments. All the while, schools and families are worried about how students may abuse it to shortcut the learning process, such as plagiarizing their essays or having ChatGPT do their math homework for them. This webinar will discuss the pros and cons of using ChatGPT and similar AI in schools, what types of policies you might consider implementing to address it, and how to carefully communicate your decisions on this controversial new tool to students, families, and faculty.
