Kairos Learning Center - Specialty Teacher
St. Martin’s Episcopal School seeks a culturally competent and responsive, highly qualified, experienced teacher with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education or Learning Disabilities, as well as formal, documented training in The Orton-Gillingham Approach. The teacher will be hired to teach in the newly formed “school within a school,” the Kairos Learning Center, for students with dyslexia, beginning in the fall of 2019. The teacher will be responsible for teaching a self-contained group of no more than 5 elementary students in an across-grade setting spanning no more than two grade levels and will teach both a language arts class, utilizing The Orton-Gillingham Approach, and a multi-sensory math class. Some students might require additional academic help during the week and could receive additional instruction during one of their core curriculum classes. The teacher will work collaboratively alongside other teachers in the Kairos Learning Center program as well as grade level teachers in the School but will have primary responsibility for planning, teaching, evaluating, and reporting for students in his or her class.
Preferred candidates will have three or more years of teaching experience in independent schools as well as prior experience teaching students with dyslexia using the O-G Approach in either a school setting or in one-on-one tutoring. The preferred candidate will be certified in the O-G Approach.
This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary is dependent upon education, training, and experience and is commensurate with other independent schools in the area.
