History of MISBO Purchasing:

MISBO Purchasing originated in 1981 with Business Officers negotiating contracts for a limited number of commodities. These initial commodities included milk, bread, copy paper, office supplies, school supplies, and janitorial paper products. In 1986, the growth in membership and purchasing volume warranted hiring a part-time employee to negotiate contracts. When purchasing volume reached 1.5 million dollars and 32 member schools, a full-time position was created. Since 1991, the number of members has increased to over 237 schools with a purchasing volume in excess of 16 million dollars and a current staff of six (6) full-time employees.
