Title:  ACADEMIC TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST-Full Time (12 Month)
Reports to:         Director of Information Technology
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in education or a computer related discipline, or equivalent education and experience. Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in using technology in an educational environment.
 
  • Demonstrated effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in teaching complex concepts and instructions in a caring and easy to understand manner to both adults and children.
  • Thorough knowledge of working with Windows OS (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Publisher, Visio).
  • Experience with using interactive whiteboards, interactive slates, student response systems, educational applications, web tools, and blogs. (ActivBoards, ActivInspire, RM Learning)
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

Job Description: This position is responsible for administering staff development classes in the field of academic technology and providing assistance and strategies to Mount Paran Christian School for technology integration to enhance classroom learning.
Physical Requirements:  Lifting boxes and other packages not exceeding 20 pounds; Ability to sit for long periods of time; excellent cognitive and hearing abilities
 Responsibilities:  The following are responsibilities of the ACAMDEMIC TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST:
 
  • Creating, administering, and providing assistance and strategies to MPCS Teachers and Staff for technology integration to enhance classroom learning.
  • Developing and administering training programs to meet technology competencies and state certification requirements.
  • Developing creative ideas and uses of web, software, and hardware tools to enhance the learning experience in the classroom.
  • Creating and maintaining easy to follow documentation for distribution to staff members.
  • Working with teachers during planning periods and after school to help them incorporate technology into their lessons and offer the ability to team-teach during a lesson with high use of technology.
  • Troubleshooting problems dealing with the Windows OS, Microsoft Office applications, printers, interactive whiteboards, interactive slates, wireless connections, and other technologies used in the classroom.
  • Teaching a middle school technology class for one 50 minute period each day.
  • Networking with vendors of educational software and educational hardware.
  • Assisting in management of special events, as needed.
  • Assisting in Open Houses, as needed
  • Complying with conditions as stated in employee contract and handbook.
  • Modeling appropriate Christian behavior in speech and actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
