Mid-South Independent School Business Officers – (MISBO) was established in 1976 by six independent schools in the Atlanta area, inspired and led by Ken White, business manager for 21 years at The Westminster Schools in Atlanta. Ken’s vision was to encourage excellence and creative leadership among business officers of independent schools. His efforts included organizing the purchasing consortium, and assisting with the development of a liability insurance policy for schools. MISBO is particularly blessed to be descended from Ken White’s tutelage. One of the most signifi cant annual awards by NBOA is named for Ken White, who not only founded MISBO, but persisted in moving MISBO forward during its fi rst 20 years. MISBO, a 501(c) 3 non-profi t organization, requires that all member schools hold the same non-profi t status.
